A modern version of the classic Zipper. This ball is 7 inches long and travels back and forth along an 7 foot length of rope. To reduce fear and force associated with any incoming balls hitting handles, small foam balls can be threaded onto each line acting as a bumper between the easy grip handles and the propelled ball. This tricky therapeutic piece of equipment provides a total body workout. Great for adults as well as children.
The BEST toy for so many reasons!06/11/2017 ByLindsey Biel If I had to pick one toy to use with my clients, it would be this one. The Zoomball is perfect for building strength, endurance, motor planning, cooperation and so much more. I shorten the strings for younger kids and keep them longer for teens and adults. It's easy to modify to accommodate sensory challenges, i.e., add the foam bumper cushions to reduce fear and force against the handles and/or wrap the handles with Coban to soften up the feeling of the handles. My ideal routine with clients consists of 100 rounds: 10x standing, 10x standing with eyes closed, 10x standing on one foot, 10x standing on the other, 10x tall kneel, 10x half kneel one knee, one foot, 10x half kneel on the other knee and foot, 10 x on a balance board, 10 x in prone, 10 x in supine. –Lindsey Biel, OTR/L, www.sensorysmarts.com, Coauthor Raising a Sensory Smart Child
