Developed by OTs and teachers, these books target specific skills that will enable children to develop the coordination needed for accurate cutting. Easy to use, reproducible worksheets provide a wealth of activities. Book 1, for younger students, starts by reviewing the proper way to hold scissors and open and close them. Next, students are taught how to hold and snip paper and then how to cut in a single direction and to cut along a line. Book 2 covers the cutting of corners and curved lines. The movement of the paper holding hand and the different directions in which right and left handed cutters cut is also part of the instruction. These are important but little addressed steps to successful scissor use. Books also include developmental milestones that can be used for
planning, assessment, and creating IEPs.
